Some partnerships don’t begin in boardrooms but in classrooms.

Nearly ten years ago, Ange Dove and Joyce Teo first met as fellow students in a training room. Both were on a quest to understand communication at a deeper level — drawn to NLP, personality profiling, and consciousness work — and, as it turned out, guided by many of the same mentors along the way. That shared foundation sparked a friendship that grew over the years, built on curiosity, exploration, and countless conversations about how people learn, grow, and connect.

For a long time, they both knew they wanted to create something together. That “something” first took the form of a joint book project. But as they sat down to write, it became clear that the book wasn’t the point. What mattered were the deeper conversations that unfolded: stories of navigating corporate cultures weighed down by poor communication, of witnessing how misalignment erodes trust, and of discovering tools that could truly transform the way people work together.

It was in those conversations that the true collaboration revealed itself. The book faded into the background, and a bigger vision came into focus: a business born not from chance, but from the melding of two minds, two journeys, and one mission.

Beyond Words was created to take everything they had learned — about communication, human behaviour, and authentic connection — and turn it into a movement that helps leaders and teams go beyond what they say, to how they truly connect.
